Cymbals and Cymbal Effects 

There are many types of Cymbals and cymbal effects available and they make up a large part of a drummer's 'sound'.

Cymbals uses fall into two  main categories.

Structural - Hi-hat and ride cymbals are struck or tapped rhythmically to provide a structural input to the drummer's basic rhythm and the music being played

Dynamic - Crash, splash, chinese and effects cymbals are used to add emphasis and accent to the music. They can also be used structurally but this tends to be occasional or accented structure.
